World Federation Gifts by electronic transfer of funds Account

If you are contributing to the Mount of Olives Housing Project (MOHP), please send an email to mohp@lwfjerusalem.org indicating that you have sent a check or transferred funds electronically. Be sure to clearly indicate the amount and that the funds are intended for the MOHP. Please provide us with your name, address, phone, email, and congregation name and city. Note to U.S. residents! If you are from the USA you may wish to contribute to the Mount of Olives Housing Project through the "ELCA Good Gifts: make a difference" website. Material Goods LWF-Jerusalem works with other like-minded organizations in the area to provide emergency aid through relief convoys and shipments. If you, your organization, or church wishes to contribute relief goods, hospital supplies, school supplies, etc., please contact us beforehand so that we may ensure that your donation can make the biggest impact possible. Please do not send goods without contacting us first. It is important for potential donors to keep in mind that shipping costs, taxes, and purchase prices make it more effective for groups to donate money which can be used to purchase goods locally. Locally-purchased goods have the dual benefit of providing aid to the local community and adding to the economy of the local community. LWF-Jerusalem prefers to purchase its goods locally, so as to encourage employment in the flagging Palestinian job market. There is a possibility that groups interested in donating specific material goods could contact us to arrange the local purchase of these goods with donated funds. Volunteering and Technical Assistance Because LWF-Jerusalem operates with minimal staff and uses most of its resources to run its projects, it is often in need of voluntary assistance. We sometimes host part-time volunteers in the Guesthouse, and at other times have had volunteers working in the office on things like writing, publicity, web design, photography, and project proposals. Some of our volunteers are professionals who contribute their skills to one of our projects. If you are interested in contributing your skills to LWF-Jerusalem, please contact us at the e-mail address below. LWF-Jerusalem's Tax Exemption for Humanitarian Services The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) has been serving the needs of Palestinian refugees in East Jerusalem and the West Bank for 60 years. Through its humanitarian work the LWF continues to be an important expression of the Christian presence in the Holy Land. The Lutheran World Federation, a nonprofit organization supported by its member churches, provides material aid, medical care, and rehabilitation services, such as vocational training and self-help projects, primarily to Palestinian refugees. The LWF has had a tax exemption agreement with Israel for more than thirty years. Unfortunately, the taxes now claimed by the Israeli Tax Department put the LWF programs and all the services they provide to Palestinians in East Jerusalem and the West Bank at risk.
